A Multihead Weigher is a high-speed, precise, and automated weighing machine used in industries to fill pouches, trays, and jars with products like snacks, grains, or hardware. It utilizes multiple, independent vibratory heads (typically 10-20) to calculate the optimal combination of material to match a target weight, minimizing product giveaway.

Key Characteristics and Components

High Precision: Uses individual load cells on each hopper to determine the exact weight.

Speed: Designed for high-output production, often used with VFFS (Vertical Form Fill Seal) machines.

Structure: Comprised of an inlet funnel, top cone, linear vibratory feeders, pool hoppers (for storage), and weigh hoppers.

Material: Usually constructed from stainless steel (e.g., SS304) for food-grade, hygienic, and durable operations.

Control System: Features a touchscreen HMI for easy programming, recipe management, and parameter adjustment.

Working Principle

Feeding: The product is fed into the top cone and distributed to linear feeders.

Weighing: The product drops into pool hoppers and then into weigh hoppers, where it is weighed.

Calculation: A computer algorithm identifies the combination of hoppers whose total weight is closest to the target.

Discharge: The selected hoppers release the product into the packaging machine.

Types of Multihead Weigher

Vibratory: Standard type for free-flowing items.

Gravity-fed: Suitable for non-free-flowing or sticky products.

Screw/Auger: Used for powders or heavily granulated products.

Waterproof/Dip-proof: Designed for fresh meat or frozen food environments.
